Legislators Urged to Pass Worker-Friendly Budget
SEIU members travel to Madison to lobby on important issues
With the budget yet to be resolved, SEIU joined members of 13 other unions today at the
state Capitol today to have their voices heard. “With Healthy Wisconsin no
longer on the table, Assembly Republicans have lost their excuse for holding up
the process,” explained Sheila Cochran, Secretary-Treasurer of the Milwaukee
County Labor Council. “Legislators must continue to hear from working families as
they finish budget negotiations.”
SEIU members asked their own legislators to urge Conference
Committee members to negotiate a budget that protects collective bargaining
rights, provides more access to quality health care through the Governor’s
BadgerCare Plus, and adequately funds the public services that make Wisconsin great.
“Wisconsin
values good jobs and healthy communities,” stated Dian
Palmer, President of the SEIU Wisconsin State Council. “Together
we can create a budget that supports the state’s hardworking families.”
