Hey McCain – Can We Stay at Your Place?

McCain_HousesMembers of SEIU and UNITE HERE called on Senator John McCain to open his home to families facing foreclosure at a protest outside his campaign office in West Allis. The event was designed to highlight the growing disconnect between Senator McCain and the challenges facing working families across the country. The action began with union members unloading a U-Haul of furniture onto the sidewalk in front of the office.


“Thousands of families in Wisconsin are face-to-face with foreclosure, and John McCain lacks of real solutions,” stated SEIU member Ethel Gates. “John McCain owns 7 homes; he could at least let us use one of his.”

The protest comes as the housing and employment crises have reached new heights. As major banks announce bankruptcy, seek bridge loans, and pursue buyouts, average Americans watch the value of their homes plummet as their mortgage payments soar.
